I know it’s a little late to start worrying about Black Friday and Cyber Monday now. So here’s a quick check list to see if you got everything set, or if you are going to be spending some time away from family and Friends on Thanksgiving:
1. Is all your marketing launching from your website first? This is such a simple mistake many businesses make. They start posting to social media without reference to their website at all or just to point to a buy now on a product page. You have an incredible opportunity to educate customers and clients on your website and use that as a landing page for your product or services. This shows an incredible level of professionalism as well as showing your customers that you care about them.
2. Is your site not only mobile enabled, but mobile optimized? There’s now no excuse. Depending on what you do, your customers are now averaging searching with mobile devices at least 60% of the time. If your site is just for desktop machines you are missing out on a huge market.
3. Do you feel the need for speed? Your site needs to load fast… super fast. A premium provider is best, especially since there will be a huge increase in traffic during the holidays. If your site is on a shared server you could potentially be fighting for bandwidth with thousands of other sites. If your site doesn’t come up quickly, people move on to ones that do. You have about 4 seconds… GO!
4. What’s your social media plan? You really need to be organized about this. What are you going to post, where and when? During the next week, you will need to double, triple and even quadruple your posting schedule, just to be seen on many of the popular social outlets. but don’t post just to post. You have to have a purpose and that should be to educate rather than sell. People buy from those they like, know and trust. Education is the quickest way to get there.
